"Eat local" may be the current food fad, but it is a philosophy well-grounded in good sense. After all, the greatest cuisines are created from local and seasonal food.

With that in mind, we source our food carefully. Many of our vegetables and herbs are grown spray-free in our coastal garden. Our fruit trees, planted in 2006, are starting to bear, and we have an abundance of lemons thanks to our kind climate. Honey and baked goods are from local producers and we strive to know the beasts our meat comes from.

Wild food is a feature of the West Coast and we are fortunate to have access to venison, paua, various fish and whitebait at various times throughout the year.

Some of our guests bring their catch straight to the table!

As Guy Clark Says:

"There's only two things that money can't buy,
and that's true love and home-grown tomatoes."
